A mastopexy, or breast lift, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to restore the youthful, perky shape of the breasts. Factors such as aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight changes, and even genetics can cause sagging breasts and loss of their natural firmness. A breast lift corrects the shape and position of the breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipples, without necessarily increasing their volume. Note: A breast lift is different from a breast implant. In a lift, the focus is on correcting sagging, not enlarging the breasts.

Depending on the degree of sagging and the condition of the breast tissue, the surgeon may use one of the following techniques: Circular areola lift: Suitable for mild sagging Vertical or lollipop lift: Areola + vertical incision to the fold Inverted T or anchor lift: For severe sagging, involves a horizontal incision in the fold Prosthesis lift (if needed): Combines lift and volume at the same time

Wear a medical bra for proper support Avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks Keep your head elevated while sleeping Take medications prescribed by your doctor Avoid manipulating or putting pressure on the surgical area
5 to 7 days of relative rest Return to light work after one week Swelling and bruising are normal and will gradually decrease over a few weeks Final results will be visible in 2 to 3 months Scars will gradually fade and will be covered by underwear
